Day 1 Tokyo(東京) - Nikko(日光)
Day 2 Nikko - Tokyo
Nikko is famous for UNESCO world heritage "Shrines and Temples of Nikko". There are world class two temples and one shrine and it is worth to visit although you are not interested in history. Along the route, there are also many spots like flower garden, great wetland, underground stope and so on. Most of accommodations are also Japanese Ryokan with Onsen facility. It is very good destination if you are a person who would like to visit many kind of spots as much as possible during your travel.
But Nikko is located about 200km away from Tokyo and it can be busy itinerary.
Honestly speaking, 2D1N is too short to visit this area and you need to skip some nice sightseeing spots. If you have time, it is highly recommended to choose longer routes.
