If it is first time for you to drive in Japan, this is one of the most recommended 2 day 1 night driving route from Tokyo.
You can stay either Hakone(箱根) or Atami(熱海) where is one of the most famous Onsen town in Japan. Due to convenient access(about 100 km only) from Tokyo, both area are very popular among local Japanese too.
However, honestly speaking, 2D1N is too short to visit this area and you need to skip some nice sightseeing spots. If you have time, it is highly recommended to choose longer routes.

[Description and Highlights]
It is highly recommended to visit Kamakura city where is ancient capital of Japan. You can visit "Great Buddha of Kamakura(鎌倉大仏)" and Tsuruoka Hachimangu shrine(鶴岡八幡宮). If you travel with children, Cup Noodle Museum in Yokohama may be interesting too. Enoshima island is good place to have fresh seafood lunch.
After Enoshima island, enjoy driving along the Sagami bay.
Please keep time to visit Owakudani valley in Hakone which is famous active volcano.

It is recommended to stay Hakone town where is one of the most famous Onsen town in Japan.
Most of accommodations in this area are not western style hotels but Japanese style inn called "Ryokan(旅館)". Normally, they have Onsen(Hot spring) facility and provide both dinner and breakfast. You also can choose plan without meals but there are not many restaurant around these Ryokan and it is recommended to include it.
◆Day2 Hakone to Tokyo
[Description and Highlights]
2nd day, first destination is Mishima Sky Walk which is one of the longest suspension bridge. If the weather is nice, you can see beautiful Mt.Fuji there. If the seasons is suitable, you also can enjoy fruit picking too. After there, let's drive to Hakone Ashinoko Observatory. It is located on the highway "Ashinoko Sky Line" but the scenery is really wonderful and worth to drive. Gotemba Premium Outlets is one of the largest outlet mall in Japan. You can visit there before coming back to Tokyo by Tomei Highway .
